2017 LOLA Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

2017 LOLA Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
2017 LOLA Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

Our Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a blend of Dijon clones 115, 777, as well as a suitcase clone from Vosne Romaneé, France, brought back by our winemaker in 2005; all of which are planted at our Bloomfield Road Vineyard in the Russian River Valley AVA. This wine is deep garnet in color with aromas of wild strawberry, cherry, red currants and forest floor, accented by notes of dried tea, rose petals, cedar and vanilla bean. On the palate, the wine's bright acidity and supple texture are accompanied by delicate tannins and a long, lingering finish. 1976 cases produced.

This Russian River Pinot Noir saw 20% whole clusters, but also enjoyed 20% new French oak for six months. (The reason for getting these wines in bottle so quickly is so that fruit is their hallmark.) This Pinot Noir offers up notes of sweet and sour cherries, Asian plums, and hints of earth, underbrush and tobacco leaf.
- Robert Parker, Wine Advocate
Medium ruby-purple colored, the Russian River Pinot Noir reveals aromas of red cherries, mulberries and raspberry leaves with hints of fragrant earth, sautéed herbs, black pepper and garrigue. The plush-textured, medium bodied palate gives a good core of uncomplicated red berry and earthy flavors, with appealing freshness and an herbal lift to the finish.
- Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate
This Russian River Valley Pinot Noir release saw more whole cluster (20%) and 20% new French oak. It offers textbook black cherry, forest floor, earth and hints of autumn leaves in a medium-bodied, supple, beautifully textured style that over delivers at the price.
- Jeb Dunnuck
The Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a little juicier and sweeter than the North Coast, but it, too, is forward, delicious and ready to drink. Sweet red cherry, flowers, mint and a dollop of new oak add to the wine's considerable near and medium-term appeal.
- Antonio Galloni, Vinous
